That is a rather large script just to generate a couple of settings that
are by themselves perfectly readable by a human...

I wouldn't bother with it. Just start with the example config that comes
with mutt and then browse muttrc(5) for anything that's not clear.

In case the muttrc(5) manpage doesn't explain things clearly to you, you
can then ask specific questions here, where I'm sure someone will be
able to help you.
