Can folder-hook refer to a sub-directory mailbox?

On thinking about it this isn't likely to work as folder-hook gets
actioned when reading the mailbox.  I'm not reading the mailbox, I'm
saving to it.  What I want is a save-hook that allows me to set the
mbox_type.
