Deleting old maildir messages, is what I'm doing OK?

I have developed an archive / delete system over the years.  I want a complete archive of some maildirs, so a cronjob moves them to an archive structure.  Others I keep just a couple of weeks and then delete.  Junk/Trash/Spam sticks around for three days in case something came in from an unexpected source.
