Exactly.  And as it turns out, even though in principle I am a big
advocate of privacy, in practice I don't really care.  I don't say
anything in e-mail that I'm ashamed of or that is likely to get me in
any legal trouble, and if I did move entirely over to gmail but found
I had reasons to do those things, I certainly know how to avoid google
to do it.

I'm not really... I don't like it much, and I'd much rather have
full control over my mail (there is a reason I use Mutt, after all)...
But if I went that route I'd most likely use gmail because I already
am all over Google's ecosystem.
