I have always used that as an excuse when corporate drones get annoyed with my text email.

It's somewhat pointless when I save PDFs, pictures, etc to look at outside mutt, but I don't mention that :-)  Still, most links to 1x1 invisible gifs and javascript are rendered harmless.
