It's kind of personal taste.
Most OSes choose HCACHE_TOKYOCABINET.

SLANG is come from the author of the "slrn" newsreader,
it is used in his programs "slrn", "jed", "most".
Most OSes terminal programs are compiled with CURSES/NCURSES,
because it is a standard system library.
